What if my skin problem can't be assessed online?

What happens when a physical examination is needed, and what that means for what you paid.

In around 95% of cases, your dermatologist can give you a diagnosis and a treatment plan based on your photos. This article is about the other 5%.

First, your dermatologist will ask for better photos

If your photos are not clear enough, this is the first step. New photos cost you nothing extra and often solve the problem.

When an in-person examination is truly needed

Via a Skindr partner location

We arrange for you to see a dermatologist near you as quickly as possible. This is usually faster than finding an appointment yourself.

Via a referral letter

You receive a letter and book an appointment yourself with a dermatologist of your choice. The letter states what your dermatologist found and why an examination is needed, so the specialist already knows what to look for.

This means you are not starting from scratch and you do not have to explain your story all over again.

When your dermatologist suspects something serious

For example, in the case of a suspicious mole, your dermatologist will advise you to book an appointment shortly for a biopsy or further examination.

Follow this up quickly. A photo can raise the question, but only an examination can answer it.

What about the money?

You paid to have your skin assessed by a dermatologist, and that has happened. Finding out that you need a physical examination is a real result and not a dead end.

You receive a voucher for the amount you paid in two situations: if your dermatologist decides that a physical consultation is needed and you would rather see your own dermatologist, or if we cannot offer you a suitable partner location near you.

This voucher does not expire. Read "When do I get a voucher?" for the full terms and conditions.
