Using a Skindr prescription abroad

What works when you travel or live outside Belgium, and what does not.

Our dermatologists are accredited Belgian and Dutch doctors, and they write Belgian prescriptions. This has consequences as soon as you cross the border.

Travelling with your medication

An electronic Belgian prescription only works in Belgium, because it is stored on your Belgian eID. A pharmacy abroad cannot read anything from it.

If you are going on a trip, tell your dermatologist before you leave. They can provide your treatment plan and your prescription as a pdf, and this also works outside Belgium. Print it and take it with you.

If the timing allows, it is often easier to collect your medication in Belgium before you go. Read "Finding and printing your prescription yourself".

If you live outside Belgium

Pharmacies in other countries do not always accept a prescription from a doctor outside their own country. Pharmacies in the Netherlands do not accept Skindr prescriptions.

Reimbursement through your own national system or insurer will usually not be possible either.

What this means for you

Skindr can give you a diagnosis and a treatment plan wherever you live. Getting the medication in your hands is the part that depends on your country.

If you are not sure whether this works for your situation, ask us before you start a consultation. Also read "Using Skindr from abroad".
