Not everything your dermatologist recommends needs a prescription. Over-the-counter products, such as a cleansing gel, a cream, a sun cream or a serum that you buy at the pharmacy without a prescription, do not appear on your eID. You do not need a prescription for them, after all. You ask for them at the counter or you buy them online.
Only prescription medication appears on your eID.
How to tell the difference
Your treatment plan usually says so. If it does not, your pharmacist can tell you in a few seconds, because they can see straight away whether a product needs a prescription.
As a rule of thumb: antibiotics, retinoid medication, corticosteroid creams and anything hormonal need a prescription. Cleansers, moisturising creams and most cosmetic serums do not.
If a prescription medicine is missing
That is a different issue. Read ‘My prescription is not on my eID’ and follow the four steps there.
If you cannot find the product at all
Ask your pharmacist whether they can order the product, or whether an equivalent alternative exists. Most pharmacies receive a product within a day or two.
If there is nothing comparable, read ‘The prescribed product is not available’.
